The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is highlighting the need for the construction of a new consolidated Sale College Campus to be included in the 2025-2026 State Budget.
Mr O’Brien said the school and the Wellington Shire Council have worked tirelessly to progress this project and it was past time for the Allan Labor Government to step up and put the funds on the table.
“The land has been secured and the master plan has been developed. This is a shovel-ready project that must be funded as a matter of priority.
“We have seen projects like the Princes Highway duplication stall in the past and then suffer from huge cost blow outs due to inflation by the time the funds are committed. I do not want to see that happen here.”
Mr O’Brien said he had been campaigning alongside the school community and the Wellington Shire Council for a new school on a single campus since 2017.
“Our local students deserve access to quality education facilities and the current campuses simply don’t provide that.
“It’s time to stop throwing taxpayer funds after costly maintenance of sub-par facilities and get on with the construction of the new campus.
“I call on the Government to now get on with the job and ensure that we have a new Sale College as quickly as possible.”
